Job Summary:
We are seeking a CLINICAL NURSE II for Duke Orthopaedics located in Durham to be an integral member of the healthcare team and provide direct and indirect care to patients.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care responsibilities- rooming/intake of patients, collecting medical histories and vitals, ensuring medications are current and all information is accurate.
Preparation and drawing of injectable medications.
Suture removal as needed
Clean exam rooms per practice protocol.
Ensure used instruments are properly cleansed and sent for sterilization on same day of use.
Collection and disposal of sharps/medications is JACHO compliant
Monitor prescription phone line, respond to patient in-basket requests, forwarding to provider if needed.
Maintain clinic inventory, ordering medications and supplies when needed.
After hours practice call (to be divided among clinic team)
Serve as clinic team Joint Commission liaison, attending monthly meetings and conduct periodic clinic audits to ensure JACHO compliance.
Coordinate scheduling of surgeries, posting surgeries, and scheduling pretest and post op appointments.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Job Eligibility Requirements:
Work requires graduation from an accredited BSN or Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
All registered nurses without a Bachelor's degree in Nursing (or higher) will be required to enroll in an appropriate BSN program within two years of their start date and to complete the program within five years of their start date.
Twelve months of appropriate clinical experience is required.
Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina.
BLS required.
Job Schedule:
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends and holidays.
