Core Responsibilities
Maintain confidentiality of patient information per HIPAA laws
Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices and treatment rooms
Triage patients as necessary
Record patient data prior to each physician’s visit, including but not limited to, vital signs, (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiration), height, weight, head circumference, allergies, and medication changes
Obtain necessary patient records as required by physician and verify consent prior to treatment or procedures
Assist physicians with exams and a wide variety of procedures, including but not limited to injections, dermatologic procedures, pelvic exams, EKG’s, eye exams, managing dressings, POC lab tests, and performing x-rays (training provided)
Administers medications orally, vaginally, and rectally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, and intradermally.
Administering prescribed drops to the nose, eye, and ear, applying antibiotic ointments to the inside of the lower eyelid
Prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed
Maintain proper disinfection protocols
Schedule patient tests, procedures, and follow-up appointments
Complete prior authorizations for medications and diagnostic imaging
Complete all forms used by the provider, including but not limited to, growth charts, MPE, pap forms, cytology-pathology forms, etc.
Phone in prescriptions and distribute proper medications as ordered by the provider
Administer vaccines and injections
Other duties as necessary (ECGs, peak flow, spirometry, POC testing such as strep, COVID, flu, RSV, and HCG…)
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED, required
Graduate of accredited practical nursing program, required
Current LPN licensure in appropriate state, required
