Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
As the University’s Chief Academic Officer, the Provost has broad responsibilities for advancing the education and research missions of the University.
The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost (OEVCP) provides the leadership for UNC-CH’s strategic planning for academic programs.
The Provost’s organization ensures the development and enhancement of high quality baccalaureate, masters and doctoral-level programs through ongoing program review and assessment, the raising of academic standards, and the expansion of research and other scholarship/creative activity.
Position Summary
This position provides principal, high-level, professional and personal administrative support to the Interim Vice Provost for Business Operations and other senior administrators in the Office of the Provost, including responsibilities of an operational nature.
The person in this role will serve as back-up to other administrative staff in the Office of the Provost.
Work ranges from standardized office support assignments to performance of administrative duties involving decision-making and judgment.
This position requires public contact at the highest levels, both internal and external to the organization, contact with program staff, managers of other units, and representatives of other state agencies/ universities.
This position is on-site, five days a week, in Chapel Hill.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or Associate’s degree in secretarial science, business administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience ; or Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
