A Services Technical Project Manager is responsible for providing project planning and service delivery management for established initiatives within a company.
They ensure that projects are completed to specification, within an established time frame and budget.
A Svc TPM is the lead subject matter expert within the company regarding hardware installation concerns.
They use their industry expertise to improve all aspects of project planning and resource management.
The Svc TPM for the Services Team will plan, schedule, monitor, evaluate and direct projects, ensuring they meet established time, cost and technical objectives.
The Svc TPM develops and manages the project’s change control procedures and effectively utilizes all available methodologies and tools, culminating in client acceptance of results.
The Svc TPM conducts project progress reviews with client and account team personnel, providing contingency and problem resolution plans as required.
Candidates should have expertise in translating Installation requirements into solutions driven by detailed project plans via the use of Project Management disciplines.
Given the customer facing nature of this role, up to 25% travel is expected.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Leads a delivery team for a large, complex project or multiple smaller such projects, requiring a broad scope of domain and discipline knowledge, with significant customer interaction.
Develops and manages project plan and resources.
Manages task assignments and conducts team meetings.
Communicates project status internally and with customer and conducts status meetings.
Produces project documentation.
Monitors and controls project and manage day-to-day activities.
Identify issues and tracks to resolution.
Manages Change Control.
Manages cost/schedule/resource variances.
Identifies opportunities to leverage existing assets (domain functionality, tooling, documentation) in new projects.
Interfaces with internal and external teams to ensure alignment of deliverables.
Ensures client expectations are met/exceeded.
Collaborates with Partners on sales pursuits, including customer-facing presentations and demos, projects & resource planning, and estimates/budgeting.
Provides content for and/or reviews contracts (SOW's, PCR's) Hosts internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
Builds educational content for internal and external consumption.
Identifies and documents new intellectual property (IP) COMPLEXITY: Managing complex projects with dependencies outside of his/her control; competing resources.
The principal role of a technical project manager is to develop and maintain a technology project plan, which outlines a project's tasks, milestone dates, status, and allocation of resources to stakeholders and other interested parties.
The technical project manager is responsible for clearly defining and quantifying each step, as well as establishing concrete deadlines for each project milestone and deliverable.
They must have a demonstrated ability to anticipate problems and to find resolutions before that problem can derail a major milestone or deliverable.
Since the typical project has a long life cycle, the technical project manager handles all of the complex aspects of the project; these aspects may be subject to constant change to accommodate market and economic conditions that directly affect implementation costs, market viability, and the organization’s potential profit or loss on the project.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of Delivery Management experience, with 5+ years’ experience in retail industry, particularly store operations, or equivalent experience.
Experience in creating customer proposals and strong customer presentation skills Ability to work within a project team environment where results will be based on cooperation with and/or influence of others Proficient in MS Office Tools including MS Project and Smartsheets Results driven with a focus on project success, revenue and costs - P&L responsibilities Strong written and oral communication skills with all levels of management and employees.
Strong sense of urgency and driving issues to closure, with a focus on successful results.
Meets deadlines and produces high quality work Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments Strong relationship building skills Experience gathering and documenting functional requirements Customer facing experience Services installation background Strong interpersonal skills are critical in this customer-facing role Experience managing custom hardware/software engagements Experience with Point of Sale hardware/software development PMP Certification or demonstrated plan to achieve.
