Job Description AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Civil or Geotechnical Engineer to join our Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) / Geotechnical department in the Raleigh, North Carolina office, working on rewarding projects within a diverse culture, and having access to exceptional training and career development opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities + Prepares the planning and design documents for civil and environmental engineering projects under supervision of a professional engineer, project manager or senior-level team member using engineering design software and equipment + Effectively uses reports, maps, engineering plans, engineering analyses, test data, and understanding of state and federal regulations to prepare permit applications for civil and solid waste disposal projects.
+ Participate in inspection, documentation and reporting of performance of dams and levees.
+ Coordinates and performs field exploration and inspection services, as needed.
+ Designs grading, drainage and access for large Civil engineering projects using 3D engineering design software.
+ Writes and/or reviews draft reports, including erosion and sediment control narratives, stormwater management reports, and technical specifications.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements + Bachelors Degree in Engineering plus 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education + Valid US Driver’s License and must be able to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review + Regional travel to perform field work at active construction sites, on uneven terrain and, at times, in inclement weather conditions is required Preferred Qualifications + Previous experience supporting construction or similar projects through the permitting and/or design phase and providing analyses and report writing is a plus + Previous experience with permitting and/or bidding documents is helpful + Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification a plus + Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D preferred + Knowledge of HydroCAD a plus Additional Information + Ability to perform field work which may at time require carrying equipment that may weigh up to 25 lbs.
