The Ryder Summer Internship program will allow students to apply their knowledge to current Ryder projects.
Interns will develop a corporate business sense by learning how each department contributes to the overall organization as well as crucial problem-solving, analysis and public speaking skills while attending business meetings and participating in projects.
We are currently seeking interns at either a graduate and/or undergraduate level in the following areas:
Legal
Role Responsibilities:
Research, track, and compile policy, sustainability, and industry/association items:
Compile policy-related information into universal policy catalog
Categorize legislative, regulatory, and/or related action along with key points/documents while monitoring the active status of identified issues
Correspondence (inbox) management of sustainability@ryder.
com and general intake and tracking of customer requests
Help manage ESG requests/questionnaires (internal and customers) and record keeping
Peer benchmarking of sustainability reporting/disclosures
Map out association engagement opportunities including conferences, staff contacts, etc.
Help build database of internal/external contacts for corresponding projects
Participate in team calls
Prepare meeting materials including PowerPoints and other documents
Attend virtual internal/external briefings and provide recaps
Ad-hoc Responsibilities:
Conduct research for other programs, as needed.
Create educational materials (online trainings, “how to”) for the field in priority areas – i.
e.
oil water separator compliance, waste management, Environmental 101 for supply chain (started but not yet finished).
Coordinate information gathering across teams for requests that come to our department – doing a first pass of intake forms, determining if details are missing for team review, and coordinating follow-ups as needed.
Experience with Microsoft Office is a plus
Environmental Services
Possible Projects (in order of priority):
Conduct comprehensive U.
S.
state-by-state regulatory review to support Torque launches proactively (versus reactively market-by-market as done today).
This will also provide value to FMS and SCS operations governed by similar regulations.
Complete desktop audits of Torque processes pending to inform policy and process development – i.
e.
new oil vs used oil volumes, vehicle/technician distances from Ryder shops.
Complete a pricing analysis of environmental vendors to identify opportunities for cost savings and better customer experience in the field.
Expand on water stress area analysis to determine which of our facilities fall in these regions, what their water consumption looks like historically, and develop a plan for reducing water risk.
Work with Sourcing to develop a strategy for increasing renewable energy purchasing as part of their utility purchasing process.
Requirements
Be able to commit for 8 weeks virtually, with potential for in person meetings/activities if you’re local to Miami HQ.
Be a resourceful team player that manages ambiguity and is able to adapt to different situations and people
Must have completed at least four (4) semesters of college or university curriculum and be currently enrolled toward a degree.

Salary is determined based on internal equity; internal salary ranges; market
data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; certain degrees or
certifications, etc.
The hourly rate for this position is $18 an hour.
