This position reports directly to a Correctional Lieutenant III and/or the Correctional Housing Unit Manager at a multi-custody female correctional facility and provides first-line supervision for Correctional Officer II’s.
Other responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Providing supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
Completing, reviewing, and maintaining time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
Accounting for persons and funds to ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready.
Assigning lower-level custody staff to a particular area or post, overseeing officer activities and performance and ensuring that the custody, security and welfare of offenders is maintained.
Arranging work schedules to ensure shift coverage, implementing operational procedures and ensuring rules and regulations are followed according to policy.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

of Adult Correction (DAC): The Dept.
of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws.
This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision.
Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
About North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women (NCCIW): North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women, in Raleigh, is the state's primary correctional facility for women.
It houses the largest offender population in the state and serves as the support facility for the state's other female prisons.
The campus-style facility sits on 30 acres of a 190-acre tract of state land in southeast Raleigh.
NCCIW houses offenders of all custody levels and control statuses, including death row, maximum, close, medium, minimum, safe-keepers and youth.
It provides the primary medical, mental, and alcohol and chemical dependency treatment for female offenders.
The facility operates a diagnostic center that serves as the point of entry into the prison system for women.
Upon arrival, offenders undergo a series of diagnostic evaluations that will determine future prison assignments.
