*Descriptive Summary *
Our paralegal supports the family law attorneys by gathering, organizing and preparing various documents and files for court cases or alternative dispute resolutions.
They will also meet regularly with attorneys, clients or other legal professionals in person to gather helpful details about upcoming cases.
Our paralegal is charged with managing client cases from start to finish, which includes preparing client contracts and other legal documents, managing case schedules and attorney calendars, and representing the department by being present in the office.
The family law paralegal is expected to work 40 hours per week in the Chapel Hill office, generally between the hours of 8:00 a.
m.
and 5:00 p.
m.
with some flexibility in scheduling.

_Essential functions and responsibilities include:
* Scheduling conferences expeditiously and accurately to assist attorneys in case management
* Meeting with clients and potential clients to act as liaison for the attorneys
* Opening and closing files expeditiously and accurately to ensure optimum organization of the department
* Managing client files and streamlining the representation process
* Coordinating mediation details and assisting in making the process successful
* Maintaining the calendar for attorneys to ensure preparedness for all meetings, court appearances, and mediations
* Drafting documents in assistance to the attorneys
* Traveling to court to file documents
* Legal research on various topics to assist in case preparation
* Billing time and costs when applicable

*Education, Experience and Skills *
* Associates degree or bachelor’s degree preferred
* Competency in Microsoft Office software and legal project management software.
* Superb organizational, time management, and multitasking skills.
* Excellent collaboration and communication abilities.
* Keen attention to detail.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
* Past paralegal experience is preferable but not required.
