POSITION SUMMARY: Heelstone is seeking an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) Contracts Manager to support Heelstone’s Operations and Legal Teams.
This position will support key stakeholders to ensure the successful construction and delivery of our utility-scale solar and battery storage projects via an outsourced EPC contractor.
A strong candidate will have the ability to master contract details, understand and evaluate risk, and form partnerships with key stakeholders.
This is a full-time hybrid position located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE Preconstruction: Assist with drafting and reviewing Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Agreements.
Facilitate EPC Negotiations and actively facilitate the discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
Active Construction: Draft and prepare contract-related documents such as completion certificates, estoppels, force majeure notices, change orders, and delay notices.
Track counterparty compliance with contract milestones and other deliverables.
Review the terms and conditions of various commercial agreements for compliance with overall project execution (certificates of insurance, letters of credit, lien waivers, etc.
) Coordinate and collaborate with legal counsel, financing, accounting, construction and other key stakeholders.
Maintain version control of contracts, exhibits, notices, change orders, and associated documents; Maintain logs of all change orders, notices, certificates of insurance, letters of credit, invoices, lien waivers, and other project documents.
Close-out: Assist with transferring any needed construction documentation to the Asset Management team.
REQUIRED SKILLS 3-5 years of experience in a similar role with a focus on renewable energy.
Experience in developing, negotiating, and managing construction contracts.
Ability to support in drafting and follow-up of correspondence with stakeholders.
Attention to detail, strong organization and time management skills.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Strong sense of accountability, taking ownership over projects and responsibilities and resolving issues proactively Self-starter that operates well in an entrepreneurial and collaborative environment.
Ability to work concurrently on a variety of projects, prioritize efforts, and work effectively under pressure.
EDUCATION & TECHNICAL SKILLS Bachelor's degree in business, energy, or environmental science, paralegal studies or demonstrated equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
Strong computer skills including working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Experience working with Datarooms such as Box, DropBox and SharePoint.
