Job Title: Legal Counsel
Reporting to: Head of Legal and Contract Management NAM
Location: Raleigh, NC
Overview:
This is an in-house legal counsel position supporting Linxon US, LLC’s Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) business in the Americas.
This role reports to the Head of Legal and Contract Management for Linxon, US, LLC.
You will provide the US business unit with expert advice on all aspects of its EPC business in supporting sales/tender teams in the negotiating and drafting EPC agreements, advising supply chain management in connection with negotiation/drafting of key supplier subcontracts, working with the project implementation organization to manage and resolve project claims.
What will you do? Advising clients in connection with the negotiation and drafting of EPC contracts for utility grid infrastructure projects.
Managing and resolving commercial/legal claims related to such projects.
Support and provide advice to Linxon in all legal matters, but primarily in the areas of sales/procurement contracting, claims management, and dispute resolution.
Research the licensing requirements applicable to Linxon’s business, advise Linxon of such requirements, and support the business in obtaining and maintaining such licensure for bids and projects in various states.
Analyze contracts considering corporate guidelines and policies as well as the commercial and legal risks material to project stakeholders.
Providing training with respect to internal Linxon regulations as well as legal or commercial concepts important to Linxon business interests.
Support with respect to integrity matters.
Provide legal advice and opinions on risks and related commercial issues.
Participate in the negotiation process of various contracts with clients, joint ventures, subcontractors, and suppliers.
Interpret laws, decrees and any other document of a legal nature, ensuring that the interests of the corporation are adequately protected.
Participate in the application and follow up of the corporations’ policies, procedures, and internal rules.
Experience required: Attorney with 8 to 12 years of experience who has worked for a law firm (or in-house) on behalf of clients in the construction industry.
Member in good standing of a bar association in one of the fifty states of the United States.
Excellent proficiency in English, professional proficiency in Spanish is a particular benefit, but proficiency in any other languages is a plus.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must.
Experience supporting utility construction projects or clients engaged in heavy industrial manufacturing (particularly power system products) is a big plus.
Must be capable of working as part of a small close-knit team in a demanding, fast-paced, multilingual, and multidisciplinary environment.
Experience implementing sophisticated communication plans for the purposes of achieving strategic company objectives.
Self-motivated leader who can be flexible in the development of commercially practical solutions.
Comfortable preparing and delivering high-quality legal advice within expedited time frames.
Education Required: Juris Doctorate from an accredited U.
S.
law school Competencies/ Skills Required: The Legal Counsel must possess strong communication skills and excel at collaboration.
In crafting and delivering legal advice, the Legal Counsel must be able to maintain their attention to detail while supplying advice that does not lose sight of the broader strategic goals of Linxon.
The Legal Counsel must be able to operate independently, make decisions, and help drive projects to conclusion.
The Legal Counsel must be prepared to directly communicate unpopular information and to hold others (including executive management) accountable, as needed.
The Legal Counsel should possess a business-driven, pragmatic mindset, and should understand that good results are achieved through company-wide cooperation, both with our internal and external partners.
The Legal Counsel must possess and demonstrate first-hand experience drafting and negotiating EPC contracts and must have a keen understanding of the risks and issues involved in the same.
