Job Description:
Manage the state and federal DOT compliance function for a large construction company with trucking operations dispersed over a large geographic area.
Conduct training, provide driver support functions, collect driver qualification documentation, respond to oversight agencies, and ensure divisional operations are in alignment with corporate standards.
Support company operations by ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to transportation while facilitating efficient operations in alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Barnhill Contracting Company.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Create, manage, and maintain Driver Qualification files for all company drivers per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) including drug and alcohol testing.
Assist in fleet management operations to create efficiencies in deployment and monitoring of trucking assets.
Conduct training for drivers who are required to have Hazardous Material Training per Part 172.
704 of the Hazardous Material Regulations.
Communicate and train supervisors and managers on FMCSR including drug and alcohol testing requirements, the monitoring of the CSA performance and SMS scores.
Research opportunities to improve compliance.
Assist in the training of new and existing drivers in the FMCSR regulations, roadside inspections and FMCSR CSA Safety Performance scores.
Attract, develop, and retain the best talent through good hiring, performance management, training and development, and succession processes and practices.
Conduct reviews on non-favorable roadside inspections and develop methods to improve compliance.
Assist in disciplinary action required for violation.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
Education Level: High school degree required.
Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years' operating commercial motor vehicles plus construction management experience or logistics/fleet management experience.
Required License/Certification: NC Driver License
