ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Function as an expert for Food Safety and Quality Assurance understanding all McLane/Customer/Regulatory requirements.
Provide regulatory guidance with regards to food safety to McLane through comprehensive communications written and verbal.
Provide Customer Quality Assurance guidance for the Food Safety Team and Senior Management.
Attend Customer Quality Assurance meetings and reach out to customers to ensure McLane is meeting and exceeding expectation.
Possess a solid understanding of distribution operations and able to assist with issues that arise from catastrophic events, during daily operations and with managing change in the business or methods.
Follow up on customer issues, DC corrective and preventive actions
Manage national account contracts for Pest Control, Waste Management, Recycling, Generators, and Electronic Auditing services for all of McLane.
Keep contracts up to date, work with vendors and InDirect Procurement on RFP's, and resolve issues with accounts.
Understand FSMA and industry trends to ensure McLane is prepared and acting proactively to anticipate new requirements.
Work with industry experts, Customers, and field personnel to identify solutions for QA-related issues as they arise.
Devise and oversee execution of tests and studies as necessary to better understand issues and validate solutions.
Identify any tools or system enhancements needed to meet Quality Assurance requirements, National Account needs, regulatory requirements, and oversee the associated specification, development and deployment.
Develop, document and maintain the procedures and training materials required to ensure compliance with Quality Assurance project requirements.
This will include the McLane Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manual to comply with project success.
Possess a solid understanding of distribution operations and able to assist with issues that arise from catastrophic events, during daily operations and with managing change in the business or methods.
Provide hands-on expertise to operations seeking to improve performance by identifying underlying causes of issues, developing recommendations to address those problems, working with local management and the Field Directors of Operations to develop overall action plans and providing training and follow-up on the floor to support their execution.
Implement and oversee new projects and current programs, (BRC, RizePoint, Facility Temperature Monitoring, outbound temperature monitoring, traceability, FSMA, etc.
).
Oversee GFSI certification for all divisions.
Work with Food Safety Managers to ensure compliance and understanding of policies and procedures.
Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
A teammate in this position must:
Four-year degree, Business or Food Science related.
5 or more year's related experience.
Regulatory and food safety experience in the food industry.
Ability to work efficiently, spontaneously, and closely with regulatory agencies, distribution centers, vendors, and customers.
Ability to influence others and lead change.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, & presentation).
Highly skilled in all Microsoft programs - Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
Certification/courses/experience in Policy/Procedure Development, National Accounts, HACCP, PCQI, BRC, FSVP, Root Cause Analysis, Traceability, Allergen Management, and GMP's.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Corporate office environment as well as occasional Distribution Center environment.
Travel 10%.
