Description of Work SALARY SCHEDULE: NC09 ~RECRUITMENTENT RANGE: $38,516 – $50,000~ ~READVERTISEMENT~ ~PREVIOUS APPLICANTS NEED TO REAPPLY IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED~ Department Mission: Under the Department of Commerce, the mission of the Division of Employment Security (DES) is to administer the unemployment insurance system for the state of North Carolina by delivering efficient, effective and qualify services.
Description of Work: This position will provide administrative, clerical, and research support to an attorney, including but not limited to contacting attorneys and court officials.
Position establishes, maintains and closes out cases, files or systems of legal records; maintain docket calendars and tickler systems; coordinate calendars with Clerks of Court and meets deadlines for submitting actions; coordinates appearances of witnesses.
Work typically requires the composition of legal documents for technical examination; composing case statements; verifying case citations and authorities; prepare motions, subpoenas, and other such documents in conformance with applicable legal or court rules; and respond to calls for information received from public, state officials, and others.
Perform other duties as assigned.
The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 8 a.
m.
- 5 p.
m.
and may work overtime occasionally to meet business need.
This position is physically located in Raleigh, North Carolina in Wake County.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Qualified applicants must submit an application that clearly reflects work experience that demonstrates the following: Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology.
Demonstrated working knowledge of the court systems.
Demonstrated work experience with Microsoft Word, Excel and Adobe.
Demonstrated experience to work independently and calmly under pressure.
Demonstrated work experience in the preparation of documents and reports to be accurately and efficiently processed.
Demonstrated experience communicating effectively and courteously, both orally and in writing.
Demonstrated work experience with handling information that is highly confidential using discretion and good judgment.
Demonstrated work experience in organizing time and tasks, and meeting deadlines.
