Description of Work
The Office of General Counsel intern will be collaborating with a team of 4 attorneys daily.
They will interact as much as needed for the intern to gain an understanding of the tasks at hand/concepts so that they can independently apply the concepts.
The position is in Raleigh, NC.
Assist counsel on all relevant subject matter areas by providing legal and strategic advice on the interpretation of applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and case law.
What Will You Do
Responding to public record law requests.
Participate in contract negotiations and/or interpretation of internal policy and procedure.
Advise the Secretary, Senior Staff, Human Resource Department, and employees on issues related to federal and state employment and labor laws.
Perform traditional case law research draft legal memorandums, review agreements, survey state law and research legislative history.
May have the opportunity to attend meetings, hearings, and mediations.
Collaborate with colleagues, which ends with a demonstration of your findings and recommendations back to a leadership panel.

Must be a current law school student.
Strong critical thinking, written, and oral presentation skills.

Must be a currently enrolled student in a bachelors, masters, or professional level program at an accredited North Carolina Historically Black College/University (HBCU) or Minority Serving Institution (MSI)
Minimum overall GPA of 2.

Must demonstrate GPA by attaching a transcript (official or unofficial)
