This temporary position is located in Raleigh - Wake County.
This position is located in the Transportation Division of the North Carolina Department of Justice.
The Transportation Division represents the legal interests of the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
The primary duty for this position is to provide administrative support for the weekly filing and service of new condemnation lawsuits.
Extensive use of agency computer programs and systems will be required.
Preparation and Filing of Legal Documents & Correspondence Will provide accurate and timely assistance to staff in preparation of legal documents and correspondence.
Type, file and prepare for service pleadings, briefs, correspondence, settlement agreements and other documents error-free for attorneys or other staff members.
Proofread, edit and format documents according to established procedures and rules; with minimal supervision, compose routine correspondence and memoranda.
Assist in preparation of exhibits and trial notebooks.
Filing and Retrieving Information & Documents Generate and maintain accurate and efficient filing systems and databases for document and information control.
Prepare files to be archived and destroyed in accordance with established document retention polices.
Providing telephone and receptionist services Provide timely and accurate messaging and receptionist services to attorneys, other staff members and the public.
Scheduling Provide appointment scheduling and calendaring for attorneys and other staff members.
Maintain an active calendar for attorneys or other staff members and promptly remind them of engagements or deadlines.
Coordinate with court clerks, court reporters, witnesses and other staff members concerning appearances for hearings, trials and depositions.
Note to Current State Employees: The salary grade for this position is NC08.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Substantive knowledge and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling, proofreading and program terminology to compose correspondence, reports and other materials.
Substantive knowledge of program content and services to apply in the analysis of information and decisionmaking.
Ability to record, compile, summarize and analyze narrative and numerical materials.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to plan and coordinate a volume and variety of appointments, meetings and conferences.
Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and review administrative and program workflow and procedures.
Ability to answer inquiries independently and coordinate a variety of resources in acquiring information.
