This position reports to the Division of Public Health (DPH) Director of Regulatory and Legal Affairs and will be part of the DPH Office of Regulatory and Legal Affairs (RLA).
This position will have a primary purpose of regulatory and legal support to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and rulemaking and administrative support for the North Carolina Commission of Anatomy.
This position will interface with attorneys and law enforcement, draft and conduct legal review of policies and procedures, and review responses to external requests.
This position is co-located at 5605 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609 and 4312 District Dr, Raleigh, NC 27607.

Qualified candidates must document on the application that they possess all of the following:
Knowledge of case, statutory, and administrative law.
Ability to interpret laws, rules, regulations and court decisions.
Knowledge of judicial and quasi-judicial procedures and the rules of evidence.
Ability to analyze facts, evidence, contracts and legal documents.
Ability to conduct legal research and analyses.
Ability to express legal interpretations or conclusions of law clearly and logically in oral and written form.
Ability to draft and review legal communications, reports, and agreements.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with persons contacted in the course of work.
Management Preferences:
License to practice law in NC.
Knowledge of NC general statutes and rules which apply to DPH, the NC public health system, the OCME, and the statewide medical examiner system.
Knowledge of the medicolegal death investigation and medical examination processes.
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the subject's own body.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
